Still More Snow

Old Man Winter seems very reluctant to leave this year..........
If I remove the tatted snowflakes from my window, do you think he would take the hint ?
It might be worth a try....

Busy Days

I can hardly believe that it has been over a week since I last posted something here. The days have just flown by. It seems that once Lent starts, I switch into a different gear. Full of thinking and preparing for the great feast ahead. There is so much to do, during these forty days!

So that is why you may not hear from me as regularly.......

And don't worry...........I'll be back to my old blogging habits after Easter!

Delicious Things

Lemon poppy seed pound cake.

It is even better if you make it into french toast.....

And who knew a mug of coffee could be so chic in an old felted sweater sleeve, and a matching broach?

My mother is amazing.....

Boots in the Closet

I couldn't resist.......

Napping Boots

The sweater was knitted by my talented mother. It even has a real pocket!

Catching Snowflakes

You will need a dark colored coat, several enthusiastic children, and the perfect snowy day.

-Oh, yes, and plenty of time to marvel at the tiny miracles you catch on your sleeve....

Miss Posy and Pink

The two go quite nicely together, don't you think?

White Chocolate Cake

With an airy layer of seven minute frosting swirled on top, and strawberry jam layered between............... it really doesn't get much better than this.

Documentation

....that my floor is, at the moment, completely spotless. So that tonight, when I am tempted to believe that it was all a dream, I will have proof that it was indeed a reality.

Why, oh why, do I always seem to choose the day of spaghetti night to mop my floor?

Why?????!!!

Happy Candlemas Day!

Also known as the Feast of the Purification of our Lady.

Here is one of my favorite hymns:

O purest of creatures,
Sweet mother sweet maid,
The one spotless womb
Wherein Jesus was laid.
All lost in the darkness
We call upon thee
And look to thy shining,
Bright star of the sea.

O fairest of virgins,
Sweet mother, sweet maid,
Whom God in His goodness
With beauty arrayed.
He lovingly chose thee
His mother to be;
He shown in thy shining,
Bright star of the sea.

O may thy pure light
On our souls ever shine;
And keep them unsullied
And sinless as thine,
Till after this exile
United we be,
Through ages unending,
In glory with thee.

-O Purest of Creatures,
from The New St. Basil Hymnal

Some Newly Aquired Friends...

........of the botanical variety, found their way into my shopping cart last week. They were marked down to 99 cents a piece, so I could not resist! The poor things were bone dry, but bearing it bravely.
-So let me introduce you to Marginata and Foliage. That's what they were labeled. Marginata sounds like a proper name, but Foliage?.....Isn't that what you call anything that happens to be leafy?I think someone didn't know what they were about when they made up the labels. Oh well. Foliage will have to remain Foliage until I am able to properly identify him.......which may be never.......
Right now he is living on a corner of my piano, and Marginata is residing in a somewhat-sunny little nook in my kitchen.
One can never have too many little friends like these.........in my opinion, anyway..........

A Blueberry Pancake Morning

Tuesdays are usually "pancake day" at our house, but this morning was just right for blueberry pancakes. You could feel it. So that is what we had for breakfast -with plenty of butter and syrup.

Mondays are usually a bit slow around here. There is always plenty of catching up to do, from over the weekend. And there is a bit more catching up to do this particular Monday, as we were all sick with a very nasty flu bug the end of last week -I am still not quite my old self yet! I did get all of the dirty laundry gathered and sorted, and my first batch thrown in the washer this morning. Hurray!

Now if I can just keep the fire going, so that we all stay nice and toasty................oh yes, and tackle those dirty breakfast dishes...........
