Planting Plans

This past weekend, I was able to get the peas and lettuces all planted out in the garden. I have been in gardening mode for the past month now.........pouring over gardening books, and dreaming about what I want to plant this year. It is always so exciting. I think the children and I will start some tomato and pepper plants in the house too, -possibly this week. They really enjoyed it last year........I just hope I'll be able to find a place where Boots won't be able to destroy them! ;)

The Answer is Yes

.......if you are wondering if they taste as good as they look.

I think it's all because of my new apron.

It Came....

............the cutest apron in the whole world!!! And I am soooo excited!!!!

I found it here, and shamelessly begged my Dear Husband to order it for me....

Isn't it just the sweetest thing you ever saw?

Now, back to making those doughnuts in honor of St. Joseph's feast day......and yes, I'll be wearing my new apron!

Finding Beauty in a Dirty Kitchen.....

My copper kettle has been working very hard today. You see, we came home from Mass yesterday to find part of our basement flooded with water! The culprit? Well, after some investigating we found that our water heater had sprung a leak! Dear Husband cleaned up the mess, but until we are able to install a new one, all the hot water that we need will have to be heated on the stove. It is amazing how much one can take a little thing like hot water for granted....

So, as I waited for my kettle to boil with the hot water I needed to wash my dishes, I surveyed my dirty kitchen. Stacks of dirty plates, pans, and mixing bowls. What a mess.

And then I began to think that if I looked hard enough, I should be able to find beauty even here in my dirty kitchen.

I think I did.

Our Snow Fort

Now that spring is on it's way, and what remains of our glorious snow fort are merely two small mounds of melting snow, I am finally posting pictures! As the saying goes, it's better late than never, right?!

It was a beautiful day......and what was supposed to be a family walk to the mail box suddenly became sidetracked into a snowball-rolling, turned snow-fort-constructing project...... followed by an all out snowball fight! The snow was perfect "packing snow", which is what we call it when it is wet enough to mold with, but not slushy. So much fun! The husband and I both felt like overgrown kids, and the children had the time of their lives....

......especially Big Brother!

Boots enjoyed the shelter of the fort for most of the duration of the snowball fight. Big Brother, however scaled the fort walls, and took to the open battle field. What a brave boy.....

These are certainly days to treasure..........
