Miss Posy in Polka~Dots.....

Finally got this apron ( I bought the kit several years ago!) made up for Miss Posy. The fabric was a bit thin, so I lined it with a beautiful matching pink linen that I just happened to have languishing in my stash. ~Love it when it works like that! She is thrilled, in case you can't tell from the pictures, and whenever we do dishes she runs to put it on.

Bright, Balmy and Breezy

These are the perfect words to describe today.......

.....and I keep glancing longingly out the windows.

But I must keep focused.

Laundry.

And minor alterations to a pretty white dress which I hope to have ready for Miss Posy to wear on Sunday. She has been chosen as one of the "angels" who drop petals during the May~Crowning procession, and my Aunt, who is organizing it, had expressed a wish that the "angels" wear white.

Miss Posy is very excited, and can hardly wait til I have finished.

And, speaking of which, I had better get back to work!

....and one of my grandma's vintage aprons, which I had embellished (five or so years ago!) with some stitchery known as snowflaking. ~It makes me think of a modified cross stitch.......and looks like lace overlay from a distance. Here is a closer view of it on her pocket below:

She loves it. My girl through and through!

Whew!!!

Ripped jeans are all patched, missing buttons sewn back in place, and torn clothing mended.
It was a long day's work, but it's done !!!!

So.......now I need to tackle the house ....
... it's a disaster!

What I Did Yesterday.....

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I love aprons. I have been meaning to make myself a new one all summer, and yesterday, when I was suppposed to be mending my Knight's work shorts, inspiration struck. Earlier in the day I had seen this and later, rummaging through some old piles of discarded denim, I happened across a jumper (it really looked more like a tent than a jumper;) someone had given me in a bag of maternity clothes several years ago. I had been saving it......to make into something. Perfect! I ripped it apart and began cutting, pinning and sewing it into the halter-top style apron you see below.

And here you can see the pretty cotton fabric (from my stash) that I used to line it. Also the hidden inside pockets. ~A good apron always needs pockets!

I couldn't believe how well it all  went together, though I just "winged it" without a pattern.(~ It's crazy, but it seems like I do my very best sewing this way........intuitively. More often than not, patterns give me all kinds of grief.....though I will admit that they are necessary for more detailed projects than this one!)

But the best thing is that it didn't cost me a dime to make....

......and I have enough left-over fabric to make Miss Posy a new apron too!

Buttons

Miss Posy got her first taste of sewing today. I thought buttons would be a good place to start. There was a  sweet little owl in the box of embroidery projects that I had picked up at a rummage sale years ago...

She picked out two blue buttons for his eyes, and I was amazed at what a little pro she was at sewing them on. I think I will try teaching her french knots, and the back stitch to finish it off.
Just one little bit at a time.
She loves it.
Hmm............. now where on earth do you suppose she gets that? ;)

Finished!

Well, practically..... I just have to pull through some yarn to quilt it, and then add a few more embroidered embellishments. But it is perfectly usable in its current state, and I really am quite excited! I was sewing like a fiend yesterday to get it finished up. Our first big family vacation of the summer is only two weeks away, and I am counting on using this quilt a lot during it!

Keeping my Fingers Crossed......

I think I finally figured out why my sewing machine has been so cantankerous over the past six-or-more-months. At least, I think I did........we'll see. In the meantime I can work at tackling my pile of mending..............;)
